ICE THERAPY

Ice bath therapy is an effective way to speed up the process of recovery for injured, inflamed or over fatigued muscles caused by any intense physical activity.

Relax, recharge and unwind in one of our tubs and combat Delayed Onset Muscle Pain, advanced injury, swelling and bruising.

WHAT'S AN ICE BATH ALL ABOUT?

At Rising Health, we offer the traditional method of cold therapy through our very own cast iron ice baths.

Using real ice, we aim to provide the nostalgic experience that only a true ice bath can offer.

The session can last for up to 30 minutes, but we recommend starting with shorter sessions and gradually building up your exposure.

This allows your body to adjust and ultimately feel prime, rejuvenated, and ready for anything.

As you continue to challenge yourself, the love-hate relationship with the cold will only make you want more.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

When you take a cold plunge, your body immediately reacts by narrowing the blood vessels in your skin. As soon as you exit the icy water, these blood vessels return to their normal size, causing a flush of toxins such as lactic acid to be removed from your body.

Cold plunging not only benefits the blood vessels in your skin, but also helps to enhance the functioning of your lymphatic system, allowing for improved fluid movement and a reduction in inflammation throughout the body.

The real reason the Rising Health house loves this addition.. We understand the power of cold plunging and its ability to improve both physical and mental well-being. The rush of signals and chemicals that race through your body during a cold plunge provides a unique opportunity to practice composure under pressure and remain calm in the face of stress. By consistently training the mind to remain level-headed in crisis, we can take control in chaos and ultimately have greater control over our lives no matter what challenges we may face. Now that is a skill worth training for. Its time to take the plunge.

Cold therapy, such as cold water immersion, has long been praised for its numerous benefits for both mental and physical health. Studies have shown that it can be as effective as medication in reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety. Additionally, cold plunging can improve metabolism, sleep, and athletic recovery, as well as convert dangerous "white fat" to protective "brown fat" and boost the immune system. Cold therapy has been used as a traditional healing practice in many cultures for its ability to induce intentional low-grade stress, also known as hormetic stress, which is generally considered "good" stress. It helps improve blood flow and lymphatic movement and teaches the nervous system to calmly endure discomfort.

Many people consider cold plunging to be a necessary overall wellness routine, and it is beloved in many regions, including Scandinavia, Russia, and Iceland. It is often integrated with sauna in a "bath cycle" to enhance the benefits and accelerate the body's learning. Cold plunging is an immersive and grounding experience that can help you build mental resilience and improve your overall well-being.

Alternating hot and cold therapy, such as taking hot and cold showers or doing a "bath cycle" of hot sauna and cold plunges, can have a calming effect on the body and lead to deeper, more restorative sleep. These benefits can be enjoyed in any season, and anyone can do it, unless you have heart issues or are pregnant. Cold water can also increase the risk of heart arrhythmias in vulnerable populations, usually as a response to the initial cold water shock. But when you practice staying calm in the face of stress, your body eventually learns how to make this second nature when you encounter other physical or mental stressors in your life. This is where the true magic of this practice lies.

So, it is safe to say that the benefits of cold therapy go far beyond just physical health, improving mental well-being and building up our day to day
